Calling all our uri o Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki!!!

This is an opportunity for 20 Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki members to be part of a six-week basic online Reo & Tikanga pilot programme.

WHEN:

• Wednesday evenings, 6pm – 8pm
• Start date: Wednesday 15^th November 2023 (next week)
• End date: Wednesday 20^th December 2023

WHAT WILL BE COVERED:

Pronunciation, basic grammar and sentence structures, karakia, karanga/pao, whaikōrero & mihi, waiata & haka, kawa and tikanga o te marae.

NOTE:

This course is for iwi members who are beginners or who are already familiar with some simple Māori kupu and phrases, and want to improve or deepen their understanding of Te Reo me ngā Tikanga. If you've already completed a Level 4 programme or Takiura, please leave space for others.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

You must be a registered Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki iwi member. You must be at least 18 years old. You must have access to a digital device (e.g. a computer, laptop, or smartphone), a stable internet connection, and a commitment to attend all online classes.

LIMITED SPACES:

Unfortunately we only have 20 spaces available – so it will be first in, first served. You will receive a response by 6pm, Monday 13^th November to let you know if your application has been successful. This is a pilot programme and the intention is for this pilot to inform future programmes. If we receive your application after the 20 spaces for the pilot have been filled, we will hold on to your application details and contact you next year if we are able to secure funding to roll more of these programmes out.
