Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki is looking for a reliable administrator to join our team in our Clevedon office, who is willing to turn their hand to anything. The role is currently part time but additional responsibilities from across the group can be added if additional hours are desired.


In this role you will assist with the day to day running of our tari/office, providing support to team members across the varied interests of Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki.


To be successful in this role you will need to be resourceful, be proactive in your approach, and have a can-do attitude. You could go from ordering catering and office supplies one day, to farm equipment and scheduling barges the next.


This is a great opportunity for someone who is flexible, is great with people, has a high level of professional competence and is confident in written and verbal communication.


Comfort in and around te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori is preferred.


Key responsibilities:


  • Office Management: Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our office space including management of cleaning and maintenance contractors, stationery and supplies, catering as required, vehicle registry maintenance.
  • Be the first point for providing manaakitanga to our manuwhiri and kaimahi who come through the office, aligning with the values of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga.
  • Manage and facilitate incoming and outgoing phone calls to support efficient communication.
  • Assist in preparing for meetings, events, and gatherings.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable and Payable processes.
  • Attending briefings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintain office filing as required.
  • Provide basic IT support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Iwi liaison when required for specific kaupapa or data updates.


The ideal candidate has:


  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft excel and word
  • Proficiency in basic IT support and data entry.
  • Is comfortable pronouncing and using basic te reo Māori (at a minimum)
  • Understands and values the use of tikanga and protocols
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Has an outgoing and engaging personality
  • Be capable of exercising personal initiative within project guidelines
  • Has a full driver’s license


Key details:


  • 25-30 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Beginning 2nd April 2024
  • Salary based remuneration

Ngā pōtiki toa a Taikehu Ngā tamariki toa a Taikehu The brave young children of Taikehu Are you aged between 21 and 28 years old, and wanting to be supported in truly bringing out all of your potential? Every year, Rotary District 9920 (comprised of clubs in Central, Eastern and South Auckland as far as Tuakau and including the Pacific Islands of Samoa, Fiji, Rarotonga, Vanuatu and French Polynesia) supports a contingent of rangatahi/taiohi in a week long experiential live-in programme designed to help young people develop their team work and communication skills and fulfil their potential as leaders. The programme consists of a combination of: Presentations and Workshops facilitated by community and business leaders particularly focusing on leadership development, opportunities for the exchange of ideas, opinions and experiences in discussion groups etc, open sessions, sport and keep fit exercises, the opportunity to experience and practice leadership skills in action, involvement in a community activity and with the host Rotary Club programme, hosted in our heartland. We would love to support two Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki uri into the programme this year, which will be held from Saturday 29th June until Saturday 6th July 2024 at Willowpark Convention Centre, Eastern Beach, Auckland.
